There is nothing better than taking the family out for a great time! What better way is there to enjoy the company of your partner and kids then a spot of fishing? Of course most people reading this post are going to be killing to do both; spend time with the family and fish as well (Well, sometimes mostly fish but that’s beside the point).
So just how does one interact the two to make the perfect day out? Combining a third activity is sure to enhance and attract all family members! Let me explain.
There are carp fishing competitions held yearly in most areas where fresh water is available. Entering the kids into a competition where they can win some great prizes is one sure way to make them so excited they don’t want to leave the bank. The same applies to trout fishing, any fishing really! Add in prizes and kids are killing to be a part of the activities. The ladies in our life usually are not so committed to this though. A picnic blanket and $30 worth of magazines can do the trick if fishing is not their thing. Asking them to be the provider of a beautiful picnic lunch with some wine and fruit and ‘walla!!!’, wifey is in on it too! There are ladies out there that would enjoy this without the mags, picnic, wine and fruit of course!
Another thing that you can add to your day of fishing is shore activities such as beach golf, volleyball, sunbaking, swimming (not on shore obviously), gem hunting and again the picnic lunch.
If you really want to make a trip out of it, throw in a tent, some cooking utensils and an esky full of beer for family fishing and camping fun.
Catching your own bait is also an excellent way to add to the fun prospect of fishing for kids. For fresh water fishing having them find worms, crickets, bardi grubs or even cutting up cheese for cod will entice them towards seeing a product at the end of their hard work: the caught fish!
Regardless of any activity a man can do that he enjoys; fishing is the best by far to include the whole family so you can hang that sign up (gone fishing) without a worry in the world meaning .... back lash!
Make sure you take the camera, family fishing fun can produce a ton of great snaps both in and out of the water!
Poker Fishing - Fishing for Fish on the Poker Table

No! This article is not about identifying the fish we have in the ocean, rather those on poker tables. My ocean and fresh water fish identification article will come soon!
Poker Players who are fish come from all countries and are found in all limits high and low. Poker players that are fish are also found in all poker variants. For the fisherman of online poker – this could not be better news. One question you must ask yourself is which of the 2 are you? Are you a fish or a fisherman? Many a poker player have said the famous quote “If you haven't worked out who the fish is at the table you are on in the first 5 minutes, the fish is YOU”. I guess this means we all need to snap to it and work out exactly how to identify these poker fish.
So how do we identify the poker players that are fish? Identifying fish is easier then one could imagine! Fish on a poker table stand out like nothing on earth. Fish can be identified in under 5 minutes and with ease. Of course these fish would be your prime target. The common poker fish has the following attributes I have identified in point form for you:
• Fish flat call into most hands
• Fish call into raises over and over
• Fish call raises to the river with only Ace high
• Fish are caught out with absolutely nothing as they chase to the river
• Fish are easily trapped
• Fish act out of position and make bets that simply don't add up
These are just common attributes found in poker players branded “fish”. These itemised attributes are the easiest ways to spot fish at all limits in an instant. Now remember, there is a difference between a good poker player making a mistake and a fish. You need to watch for many of the indicators in each poker player at your table to identify the fish, assumptions can not be made. If assumption are made you ARE the fish. A player who flat calls 3 hands in a row could be a great player with 3 great hands, this doesn't make him a fish – and I repeat the word GREAT not MONSTER (where you would raise!). You will determine that a player who has flat called 3 hands in a row is a good player; indicated by the hands that are turned over after play.
As stated above there are fish at all levels. Do not think because someone is playing medium stakes they are not a possible fish. Some people have more money then sense and play online poker as a means of entertainment only. In actual fact there are a load of casual online gamers who have never ending bankrolls. Not every person at higher stakes are online to make money. Poker isn't all serious business, it is to some people FUN!
Now that you know how to identify fish and identifying fish is on your mind – you really need to work on taking their money. Like with a normal fish in the ocean you identify, you have identified fish at the poker table. Put the bait out and trap them. Don't let them limp in with crap hands and trickily trap them in every way. Alike the common goldfish they have poor memories so your traps will be handy multiple times. Enjoy poker fishing and score a hole in one while doing it!
Prep Yourself For Winning Poker Play!

Whether it be a cash game or a tournament there are many things a player takes into consideration before playing to win. Winning at a poker game isn't just about being a kick butt poker player; other things come into context both prior to the game and during it.
Planning for the win isn't a simple task; although to some it is their life style and therefore simpler. Whether the tournament or cash game is online or live certain things should be taken into consideration to firstly prepare.
Usually preparation is the key to winning a poker game. The following things should be taken into consideration for online play:
· Ensure you have rested well
· Ensure you have had nutritious food
· Ensure you have NO distractions such as the phone and children
· Ensure your internet connection is stable
· Ensure your computer equipment is running well
· Ensure you have the appropriate bankroll so you are not stressing about a possible loss
· Set an alarm
· Make sure you have drinks and snacks handy
· Do not drink alcohol (although this is debatable with some people)
· Pick times when the overseas competition is at their weakest (A key winning factor)
Preparation for winning a live poker game isn't that different:
· Ensure you have rested well
· Ensure you have had nutritious food
· Ensure you have the appropriate bankroll so you are not stressing about a possible loss
· Set an alarm and be on time (unless you are like Phil Helmuth and plan on being late)
· Make sure you have drinks and snacks handy
· Do not drink alcohol (although this is debatable with some people)
· Pre pay your buy-in when possible so you are not worried or stressed pre game
· Wear suitable, comfortable clothing
· Take your poker equipment such as Mp3 player or Ipod (if you use them) and sunglasses etc
Many people debate on the luck versus skill theory in poker. I debate it is mostly skill but luck helps. Winning a poker game in my opinion goes beyond both of these. I call the third “the zone”.
Any player on any given day can take down even the biggest of tournaments and cash games if they are in the zone. Anyone that has played a game of poker would have felt “the zone” at one time or another. No matter what moves you make they seem to pay off, you keep getting cards; good or bad they pay! You feel on top of the world, invincible and unbeatable – you are in the zone.
Every huge win I have ever had I have been in the zone and as above completely prepared. If you are prepared and zoned winning a poker game is easy.

The answer is - Why not? What better things are there in life? I sure as hell can't think of better activities to do during my leisure time! (There are some additional activities but I can't write them on here as they contain content which isn't allowed on my site).
Lets look past my original leisure time comment...
"I sure as hell can't think of better activities to do during my leisure time!"What better way to earn a living then participating in your fav pastimes! Let me ask you, if you could play golf for a living, play poker for a living or go fishing for a living - would you? I can't imagine there are many who wouldn't. The women in our life probably wouldn't, although some would I guess!
There are many ways to make a living out of these activities. I will mention them in future articles. Who knows? You may be able to quit your day job after reading some of my hints and tips. You could hang
a sign up like the one I have at home:Gone Fishing!
Fella's it's pretty simple to work out why I am writing on this site and sharing my tips, tricks, thoughts, and passions - I have scored the ultimate trifecta and you can too. I want to share my knowledge. There is nothing more helpful then sharing our knowledge on things we love. I am hoping to see some of your prospectives on the information I have to share too!
You know there is more to my life then the trifecta which has been made obvious in this article (for those who are pissed and have forgotten the trifecta is golf, poker and fishing!). With it comes camping, tr
avelling, awesome parties, hot chicks, plenty of drinks, some hooooch. I do unfortunately still do some casual work.I also have the Mrs and kids like most of us. Above all though, its golf, poker and fishing - my life!
